Is there any information on what software to use to root a Merlin 6" touch tone phablet?

Try KingoRoot first - it only ever let me down once by failing to root a device.

Nope, to my knowledge, there is no readily available rooting tool with support for that device. It looks like xda doesn't even have a section for it, so it sounds like it is an obscure and not widely distributed brand/model. Still, the folks over at xda are probably your best bet in finding some assistance on that front. You can find their forums here: http/forum.xda-developers.com/
