Microsoft updates not working on Lenovo

[strike][/strike] hi there recently have been having a very big problem with my Lenovo laptop. For the past couple of months it has not let me do any updates since having Windows 10 , whenever the updates are installing and it's just a black screen with a spinning circle on it stays like this forever. I have tried waiting for it for a couple of hours but still no luck. I have managed to put this problem off now for a while by just going to an old setting via bios but now I really want this fixed , any ideas?
