And it only took 2.5 billion dollars to get it on Windows phones, what a steal!
Call me crazy but at $6 a phone I'm pretty sure there aren't enough Windows phones on the market to cover the 2.5 if everyone bought two copies....

It's a long term investment that extends beyond phones. Maybe they'll make a push toward 3D interfaces to replace Metro in Win10. :D

in 2013 Nokia sold 26.2 million Lumias and 7.9 in 1H 2014. This is 34.1 million, but that's low. Lets double it to 68.2 million at $6 per user = $409.2 million. To offset the 2.5 BILLION that would be every Windows phone owner buying the game 6x.

I know but they will make more than 2.5 billion because they own the PC, XBOX, IOS and Playstation versions as well.

They have less than a 1% market share.

I have a Nokia Lumia. I don't think I would want to play Minecraft on it. I think Microsoft went through with this deal for 2 reasons. First is to say, see they would sell if the price was high enough. Second is to get it working on the Windows Marketplace. It would add value to Windows RT based tablets and Windows 8 devices in general. It would also increase the appeal of these devices modern UI if the Minecraft was built to run efficiently on them.
