The quest will make you face an elder dragon which are very dangerous creatures in the game. If you want to know how you can complete the quest by killing the elder dragon then refer to the guide given below:
Walkthrough:
The first quest where you will officially fight an elder dragon. This is going to be tough as the elder dragons are not a joke and can kill you if you are not careful. The objective of the quest is to kill an elder dragon named Nergigante.
If you successfully complete the quest, you will be given a huge reward of 18000z which is less than the ones you got in last three quests but it is still a lot considering you need to fight only one monster. You will get a window of 50 minutes to complete the quest and if you successfully complete it in that time then you will get the reward otherwise you will fail it. You will also fail the quest if you faint three times. You are required to have a hunter rank of 13 or more to start the quest. So with the basics out of the way, let’s start the quest:
- First of all, make sure to grab a good meal and bring a lot of healing items with your along with stat buffs. This monster is not going to go down easily. Do not bring Tranq Bombs or Traps for this fight as the elder dragons are immune to them. So when you are ready, go to the Elder’s Recess and then head to the AREA 9 where you will be able to find the Nergigante.
- Nergigante is a very aggressive monster that attacks frequently with very little pauses. It has a quick frontal attack with claws, it also bites, charges leading with its horns and also performs a head butt. It can also grind its shoulder and wing into the ground and perform a charge attack. It can also get fatigued which will result in more aggression towards you so make sure to avoid its attacks as best as you can.
- If you are fighting it in the AREA 9 then you can use the Slinger and target the crystal pillars, if you manage to destroy them while the Nergigante is under one, you will be able to do a hefty damage. Also, the wounded Nergigante will retreat to its lair which is in AREA 15. If you find it sleeping, you can place the barrel bombs near it to deal good damage to it.
- The head, front limbs and horns of the Nergigante are the most receptive to damage while the horns are the most vulnerable. The head is less receptive ammo and cut damage and the front limbs are less vulnerable to ammo and blunt damage. Lastly, remember that the Nergigante is weak to Thunder element.
Fight the monster while keeping these things in mind and you will be able to eventually kill the Nergigante. Once you do that you will be able to end the quest.
