LOL if you think that the xoom costs $360 to procure from China and that $799 is a massive markup, you really don't want to know about the couch or dining room set or pair of jeans you bought stateside was marked up. ~100% is *nothing* compared to most consumer goods getting imported. Hell, the shoes you're wearing right now that you thought you got a "deal" on because the "suggested" price was $110 and you only paid $60 for... Those probably cost about $15 to produce and import.

"the Xoom sells for $799 and the comparable iPad for $729." This comes out, what, a day after the iPad was pricedropped to make way for 2? Get with the other iFanbois and compare it's price to the 2.

[citation][nom]squanto[/nom]You mean, "Motorola Xoom Costs $360 to Build; doesn't sell at $799"[/citation]

Considering I have one on order that comment is invalidated on technicality.

We just got a XOOM MZ600 in today to play with. I must say it's really nice. It's a little on heavy side but thats because it's packed full of bells-n-whistles. Android 3.0 HC is fast and easy to use.

Took less than a minute to get on the wifi.

Suddenly Apple and all of it's so called "over priced hype" isn't so over priced. I'm forced to use products that cross the pc, android, and apple world... let's just say if I didn't have to pay for any of these devices, I'd live in the Apple world pretty happily.

The beauty of free market capitalism is that if Motorola is selling their tablet at $800 but it only costs them $400, some other manufacturer will come along and sell a comparable device for $600, then someone else will come along and sell one for $500, etc, until the last manufacturer is making a small profit on each device, but selling lots and lots of devices.

In other words, WAIT.

Nobody said that. Apple is in a rip-off class all it's own.
