Mouse is freezing

Hello I recently downloaded a virus and ever since that day my mouse has been repeateadly freezing . It isn't disconnecting as the light is on the whole time. And I already tried to reinstall/ upgrade the mouse drivers. I tried to reset bios settings but still the problem persists.

why would you download a virus?
malware scan the system?
fresh os install?
laptop? desktop?

Don't understand why load it !!
And it can be removed by formatting the drive not by changing things in BIOS.
