Moving Acer Hard drive into an HP laptop

i just plugged my old acer hard drive which had windows 8 into my hp laptop that had a broken hard drive. windows 8 from acer loaded just fine and i reset the whole system and reinstalled all the hp drivers. i removed all the acer branding off using regedit and renamed it using hp branding. is there something wrong with doing this? or is it just fine? everything seems to be installing fine (updates, internet access, video drivers, etc) i'm planning on selling my hp laptop to my friend and i don't want him to run into any trouble later.

is there any way to change the recovery partition so that it will load the hp drivers and branding instead of the acer if he does need to reset the computer at a future date?

Can't help you. But as a bit of jumpstart for future posts on the subject of legality, this should be legal for 8.1 if both machines had activation through the motherboard, a new method for OEM products with Windows 8.
