According to the MSI website, GT72 models can have their graphics card upgraded. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this, and what the upgrades are limited to (if they are at all). https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GT72-MXM-Graphics-Upgrade-kit.html

Also, is buying a laptop with 970M over 980M worth it for 300$ less if upgrading in the future is possible, when the need for a better card becomes relevant? How much would a standalone 980 that can be used to upgrade these MSis cost? I couldn't find any of them, so I wanted to know how the whole upgrade thing works (not mechanically, but rather in terms of where I'm supposed to get the standalone GPUs and such).

As for the graphic card of desktop, it is about $160 difference between gtx970 and gtx980. the good thing to buy a laptop instead of a desktop is the mobility and the gaming features (joint brand of audio, speaker, mechanical keyboard, etc.), you can have it all at once. of course people may think the same level graphic card of desktop is generally better than those of laptops, but I think gtx970m+ performs good enough for most of the games. when the gaming loading is much heavier, you may feel the latency on the image, then it could be the time to upgrade the GPU. btw, if you're think to play VR in...
