Games....not not a priority. But maybe light games like CS and fifa on low settings

HDMI out with support for 1080p playback. I want to be able to use it as a media center to plug into my TV and watch movies.

I'll use external hard drives for my movies so my primary hard capacity can be low, like 160 GB

At least DVD writer. Bluray ROM would be bonus.

Hopefully dell coz my college has a student purchase program with it. Plus my last 3 laptops have been dell and they've generally been upto the mark.

Live in India, but can purchase it from Canada or USA as well.

My main priority is the 108-p video playback via HDMI and that it should last for at least 4 years. This is why I am unsure about Alienware m11x as it has a relatively weak processor even in the new one to last for 4 years. The Dell Studio 17 has i7-720QM processor which I think will not be as outdated 4 years down the line, and plus it has a strong graphic card for under $1100.
