first....get rid of whatever search engine toolbar you are currently using because that is what caused this problem then......

i just now had the same problem where my screen would black out and only show my cursor.... and I kept reading and reading on the ways you guys tried to solve the issue. I downloaded the spyhunter as well....nothing would work....what I did to solve this problem I actually stumbled into on accident....very simple....nothing to download...... just make sure you have all the files you need saved or backed up somewhere.....

1.restart computer and select the option run in safe mode with networks (mine was f5)
2.hold ctrl+alt+delete to bring up task manager and at the bottom left of the task manager box it will say either (more details) or (fewer details) make sure you have MORE DETAILS selected.
3.click file and hit run new task.
4.when it lets you type in the box.....................type CONTROL PANEL
5. select user accounts and family safety.
6. select the user account that is blacking out after start up.
7.click make changes to my account in pc settings.

WHEN I DID THIS IT GAVE ME AN OPTION THAT SAID I HAD TO REFRESH WINDOWS BEFORE I COULD MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE ACCOUNT. SO I CLICKED REFRESH....MY LAPTOP DID ITS THING AND NOW ITS JUST LIKE BRAND NEW AGAIN....ONLY TOOK 15 MINUTES... IF YOU KNOW A FASTER OR EASIER WAY TO GET TO THE OPTION THAT WANTS YOU TO LET WINDOWS REFRESH ITSELF....THATS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO!! ...............................................enjoy hope this works for you guys as it did for me

I got the same problem with my acer e15. when booting my laptop I got an acer logo in green and a little circle thing turning and after a while a black screen appear and a white cursor. What I do, I tried researching on an acer website and I got this e recovery. Just press Alt key + F10 on booting and a blue screen appear and you got 3 choices. I choose the last of the 3 which is to shut down the computer. and after I boot again all of my worries is gone.

Helped here for Acer E15 series notebook. Thanks alot, brand new notebook as well, seems to be an inherent fault in Acer software, very disappointed.

My solution defies any technicality and geek sense. However absurd though it may sound, this solution worked for me. I simply kept the laptop in deep freezer for ten minutes. I then rebooted and found that the laptop worked fine. I however first booted in safe mode, ran a diagnostic test and then restarted in normal mode. No problems till today

For windows 8, it's shift key not F8 to go into the safe mode. You'll have to search the internet how to go into new safe mode then followed following direction.

Windows 7 black screen with mOving cursor. [Solved/Closed]
Dum - Latest answer on May 12, 2013 08:23AM
I have an Dell up laptop and it's on windows 7. About a 4 days ago I was just browsing the web and my screen crashed. A window popes up and it seemed to be a windows 7 antivirus. It was scanning my computer and saying I had about 45 viruses. The window had the windows icon and everything but it was fishy. So I didn't click it. I restarted my laptop and it would load fine but the pop ups kept coming and I knew it was a virus. I went to a website called geekstogo and they usually help me with my malware/virus problems. Well I went through a couple steps and the pop ups stopped. So thinking it was gone I restarted the pc and then after the windows icon and t starts to load....it stays black and I can only see my cursor.
Here's my issue:
- can move cursor
-ctrl+alt+delete does not respond
-reboot to safemode, safemode command ended with same black screen
I can reboot and start CDs. I have tried putting in my windows 7 cd and repairing and no luck there either. After the repair it goes to black screen again.
I don't know if this is related to the virus or it was fixed but now something is just wrong with windows.
Help please!

Greetings,

Try this 1.

1) When you switch ON your computer, start tapping the "F8" key to get

"Windows Advanced Options"( if boot menu appears, press "Esc" key and keep

tapping the F8 key)

2) Select "Safe Mode with Networking"

3) Click on Start --> Run --> Type regedt32 and press Enter.

[ If you are using Windows Vista or 7 then click on Start --> In search box, type

regedt32 and press Enter.]

Registry Editor will be opened. Navigate to the following location

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

At the right side, find the strings shell & userinit and check the following

shell value data should be
Explorer.exe

userinit value data should be
C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,

If shell and userinit are having different data values then change it as mentioned

above.

Just double click shell and userinit and enter the data values as

shell --> "Value data" should be
Explorer.exe

userinit --> "Value data" should be
C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,

Note: there is "," at the end of userinit.exe

Then download "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" from the below link.

http://en.kioskea.net/download/download-105-malwarebytes-anti-malware

Update it and perform "Full Scan"

Note : Default selected option is "Quick Scan"

Regards!
