My android droidmax was disabled before could save contacts, pictures, voicemail recordings. It was approximately 5 years old.

Someone suggested I try windows to get my information off a cell phone that has been disabled and lost. I never backed up my content are my contacts, photos ect. Are they lost with noway to recover?

If the phone is gone (not in your possession or dead) then there is no way for you to get the data if it wasn't backed up.
