Question My computer isn’t updating so it can be reset

This all started when my computer screen was black instead of the normal desktop screen. I ask my friend and they said to reset it so i did, i did that but now it says it can’t be reset without an update. the message also says to connect to wifi, but the option to connect wifi is given at the beginning but never again. Now it just loops from the lenovo splash screen, to a spinning circle with the message “just a moment” and the message i just described! Please help!
