Solved! My hp dv6000 laptop wont charge and has a burning smell

Solution
If you smell burning, you obviously have a major electrical fault/short. You should not plug in/use the notebook until it gets repaired. I can't comment on the specific problem, I'd have to have the notebook in front of me. Is the power jack loose?

Get the notebook looked at by a computer/electronic repair shop.
