My hp laptop turns its screen to black but still running

At the start my laptop works well its been years since my parent gave it to me.. its an old model from year of 2009 but as the days pass by my laptop starts flickering and it turns the screen to black..but when i use flashlight on the screen i can still see the image in my screen.. now i use other monitor connected with my laptop... pls help me to use again my laptop's screen again.....

Hi, depending on the model you have, the problem comes from the inverter or the CCFL (backlight). What model do you have?
