my hp pavilion g6 laptop will not power on

My laptop was working fine yesterday I switched shut it down and today it will not power up when I put the charger in the hard drive light flashes and I here a sound that repeats and lasts less than a second for a little bit then it stops and there's a strange smell that the battery when removed is giving off but I am not sure if it always was like that the hard drive was replaced a couple of months ago but I am not sure if that affected it.

If you can help solve my problem that would be great thanks

Hi,

Do a hard reset first, remove the battery and AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Put just the AC adapter back in and power it on, if it boots up just fine just plug the battery back in as well and verify if it's charging properly.
