My idealpad screen has gone dim

My laptop, which is a Idealpad , screen has dimmed? I have tried to adjust it using the slider but have had no response? What else can I do?

The last system I have seen that has a "slider" for screen brightness was about 20 years old, running a 486 CPU with Windows 95. Need your exact computer model.
