My laptop doesn't recognise my new battery and won't change?

IF the battery is an after market one, rather than an OEM one, then it is kind of hit or miss if they will work correctly. Also the battery has to have the exact same settings as the original. If it doesn't then it may not work, or worse it may damage the laptop.
