my laptop has only 798 mg of 27.6GB left, how do I free up room?

I am trying to install OnVerse onto my Dell laptop and it is telling me I need 2GB of space which I obviously do not have.
What can I do?

Thanks!

Solution

1. You move some stuff off that drive to elsewhere.
Delete old junk, move doc/music/downloads to a USB.

2. You open Disk Manager, and post a screencap of the window here.
"27GB" is either very wrong, very badly set up, or a 32GB drive.

3. After, you download and install WinDirStat. Run this to help discover what is taking up that space.
downlaod ccleaner and there defragler. run ccleaner once...reboot and then run defragler. if there still not a lot of space opened up. if you have a lot of music and movies or games your better off buying an ext hard drive and moving some of the files off to the ext.

27.6 GB is very small for any modern laptop. How old is this laptop? Have you considered installing a SSD (assuming your laptop supports it)? Prices have come down a lot recently.

Good call on the WinDirStat recommendation. It came in handy for me when Microsoft Office COMPLETELY filled up my hdd with some huge update for a version I didn't even have installed (downloaded but not installed).
