my laptop produces a beep sound as i turn it on for a long time and then it boots normally?

Often when i turn on my laptop there is a beep sound and it goes for around a minute then it starts normally, what is the reason behind this? I can see no problems with my RAM and after all its working properly then why the beep ????

what is your laptop brand and model? do you know what kind of bios it has (phoneix, ami, award, h2o etc.)
