So I bought a new laptop battery charger that says it works with my laptop (lower amps than what it can take). When I plug it while the laptop is on, the charging light shows for a few seconds, and then it quits charging (I put my power options to balanced, so my screen dims when the laptop is on battery power only). When I power off the laptop, it charges.
I tried to update the BIOS, but it won't run the update because it's wants to be plugged in during the update.
I don't have access to my original charger & need to be able to work for more than the battery will allow.

Hi, the problem is your new charger is not powerful enough to charge the battery when the laptop is on. You mention that the charger is lower amps than what "it" can take, suppose you mean the laptop.
