My rca soundbar will not work with my new Samsung smart tv. Could the component plugs on the TV not be working?

New TV has component input and optical input but my soundbar is component and it is not working with my TV

Soundbars are very limited, don't know if you knew that when you bought it.

You said component INPUT and optical INPUT, both inputs, how are you gonna drive the soundbar? Your TV has got to have an OUTPUT that's compatible to your soundbar, very simple.

"My soundbar is component" doesn't make sense, Component is a Video hookup, why would an audio soundbar has any video interface?

Take a close-up pic of the back of the TV and of the soundbar and post.

Ok, my TV & soundbar both have red, yellow & White components. My TV also has optical output/input...whichever it is! I just know my soundbar is not working!

Inputs and outputs are different and can't be used as each other. You need an output on the TV and input on the soundbar.
If your TV has an optical audio output (most common kind) then you need a DAC to convert it to analog.

You will need cables to connect it.
You may have to turn the optical out on in the TV menu and maybe the TV speakers off too,
