My Samsung 4k tv has no sound with Sony soundbar st9

I just bought a new Sony ST9 soundbar 7.1 channel. I have a Samsung 4k tv. I tried to use the HDMI to connect them successfully but I got no sound. The manual book does not help because I tried everything and still no sound. What am I doing wrong? Yes they both have ARC and did try that but didn't work. Optical only supports 5.1 channel so that's useless.

1. Make sure ARC is explicitly enable both pieces, it may not had come that way.
2. ARC is typically is on a special port, not any hdmi port.
3. You may have to explicitly select external speaker but am not 100% sure on this one, doesn't hurt to try.

I figured out a way.. I just hooked it through the Sony hi-def blu-ray and it works. I noticed that for some reasons, different brand of soundbar and tv when connected have no sound... But same brand, the process is a piece of cake.
