Hi,

The Black Screen or mostly called the Black Screen of Death (BSOD) is more likely a catastrophic failure that prevents the phone from booting the Android Operating System. This is commonly a software related issue and my be resolved by running a factory reset.

However, running a factory reset will delete all stored information and return the device to its factory configuration. One more thing is, you won't be able to backup your data if your device is on BSOD. Before doing a factory reset, make sure to remove the SD Card or any external storage. Plug the charger to the device to make sure that it won't exhaust the battery during the reset process.

Press and hold down the Volume Up, Home, and Power keys altogether. This process will show the Recovery Menu, use the volume keys to select Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Press the Power Button to initiate the process.

It would return the screen back to factory setting once done. Let me know if this step worked. Thanks!
