My screen went blank

I connected my laptop to a flat screen and watch movies for a couple of hours the screen went blank

So it went blank on the laptop or the new screen? after having this issue have you connected back the flat screen to the laptop and get the same result?

Power saving (sleep, hibernation, etc.)? Backlight still on, or no? Did you try toggling through the display options?
