My touchpad on my laptop has stopped working, how can I fix this?

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50D-A-13G and the touchpad stopped working. I have tried turning the laptop off and back on again but there was no change. My laptop is quite new and I only got this laptop for Christmas. I have plugged a USB mouse into my laptop and that seems to work, I then disabled the mouse and the touchpad still would not work. I cannot click the two buttons below the touchpad either.

Not going to swear to it but I think it's shift + F4 to toggle the touch pad on and off on that one.

If its quite new then it`s under Warranty - look for Service Center to repair it

option one - the touchpad cable is loose or not contact the board
option two - the touchpad is faulty

I had the same proboem just five min ago Shift plus F5 shoud fix it'. Stickynkeyb prob just rep few times and will be sweet.

1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Click Appearance and Personalization.
3. Go to Ease of Access Center. Under Explore All Settings, click the one that says, make the mouse easier to use. Scroll down to the bottom and under See Also, click mouse settings. A Mouse Properties window should open and at the top click Device Settings. Under that you should see a Devices box that tells you what is and isn't enabled.
4. Click on your computer's version of the TouchPad and under that click enable.
* Make sure the box below that says, disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached, is not checked or else it won't enable the TouchPad.
This worked for me when nothing else would and I hope it works for you too.

I am having the same problem. Everything is working fine, i can move my mouse freely with the touchpad, but when i try to click on something with the touchpad it doesn't work. And the bottom right button isn't working either.
I am not sure what happened but it all started yesterday evening and everything was working fine until that happened.

yes, shift F5 should work. Even I had problem few seconds back , it fixed with SHIFT F5
