My Compaq Evo N610c multibay battery charges to 100%, but the laptop will not see it as full. It sees it as 0% and even when I try to calibrate it, it tries for 1 minute and then says that I should plug in the laptop, which is pluged in.

It did charge it, but it won't see it properly.

When I took the main battery out, the laptop just shuts off.

The battery is brand new and I don't know what to do or what might need to be repaired or changed.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks for the suggestion, Fortuna. The laptop works fine on the main battery and runs after AC power is removed. The problem occurs with the multibay battery only. My main battery is fine, just trying to add time without AC by adding the multibay battery. I have two brand new multibay batteries that I've purchased and both of them do exactly the same thing as mentioned in the original post. The multibay batteries actually fully charge (as indicated on the push-to-test function indicators on the batteries). However, the laptop does not see the multibay batteries as charged although it DOES SEE the batteries and their serial numbers AND shows them on the power options in the control panel. Any attempts to calibrate the batteries results in an automatic stoppage of th process by the system saying "calibration stopped due to AC power being disconnected, please connect AC power and try calibrating again". AC power was connected the whole time....
