Hey!
Im looking for a santa rosa based laptop 15.4/17", with FULL KEYBOARD!
Also need a GO 8600GT or higher, 4GB Ram, T7700 CPU, 100/160GB 7200RPM HDD, 1680x1050 or higher res, DVI-OUT, Wireless N... All that in a nice looking, not too big/heavy case.

I'd prefer a barebone notebook, I'd build it myself so it fits my needs.

Also, I live in Canada, so I'd rather buy it in Canada to avoid custom fees.

Thx!

Hmm... Let's see.

Santa Rosa 2.2GHz, check.
15'4", check.
GeForce 8600u, check.
2GB of ram (Upgradable to 4GB), check.
1650x1050 (Have to pay bit extra for that), check.
DVI output, check.
Wireless N, check.
Even the Good looks? Check!

I'd say that I've got a rather good laptop for your needs. Want to quess?

Well, T7700 = 2.4GHz
2GB Ram... Is it on 1 chip? if not, is it customizable to 4GB or 512Mb?

is the Vid card a Geforce 8600 GT? the GT is important here.

And what laptop would that be?

If ure talking about the new MacBook pro, the 15.4" version has a resolution of 1440 x 900 and cannot be upgraded. It costs 750$ to upgrade from 2GB to 4GB, and you cant go lower. Also, it doesnt have a full keyboard.

$$$$$$$$ im a student! cant pay over 3k

Give Mark a few days to sort out his new server and website and then check out his Executioner. It'll have everything you want except the 8600GT, but the 7950GTX is better for performance. The other question is, if you can't pay over 3 grand, how much can you spend? That factor alone will limit what you can get.

That's why I said that you had to pay extra, there's the 17" version... Which is expensive, but can have the resolution up to 1920x1200. The GPU indeed is indeed 8600 GT, the cheapest one comes with 128MB. And the memory? You can upgrade it your self! It's 2x1GB. Price? About 2000$ Bit more if you want more.
But okay, the real bummer for you here seems to be the lack of full size keyboard and the reolution. Sorry that I cant help you with that. The price can also get in your way... I'll go sleep now before the AA-club finds me again...

Yeah but its mobile and the performance is pretty bad. You can't really play dx10 because i have the 8600GT and all the dx10 demo i test lag like hell and the dx9 game, well a 7600GT is almost equal, unless you are planing to play HD movie choose something else, or go for 8700M (dunno what are the benchmark yet) And i dunno why you want that much performance on a laptop your battery will stand like 1hrs. And 4GB for what ? building a server ?

With that kind of CPU, I expect about 2hrs battery... I dont need much battery time, Ill be plugged in most of the time. And I want that much power because I dont want to buy a Desktop as well, so this will be a desktop replacement.
