Hi guys! So I recently sold my Macbook for $400 in an attempt to get a windows-based laptop for school (I am an Information Security Major) because we use programs like Visual Studios and such that a Mac cannot run. I'm aiming for the 500-600 dollar range by the 1st of July. I only need the laptop to run multiple programs like Visual Studios and other Microsoft applications like word, excel, and powerpoint along with basic needs like web surfing and such. I don't need to laptop for any gaming purpose. I have been doing research and have concluded I probably need about 4GB of RAM and a second generation i5 processor. So my question to you guys:

Is this too much or should I aim for an i3 processor? Should I look at one brand more than another? Like Dell? What are your suggestions??

Thanks in advance!

Any "i" series will be fine for what you need. 4GB of RAM is fine for Windows 7.

Might look at this one:

8 Hours of battery life. It does us a Intel HD Graphics, so no gaming (but you said you are not doing to game).

11.6 inch screen, nice and small for school.

I got a 16 inch, and I hardly bring mine to school because it is so large.
