I am looking to buy a HP laptop among the following:
1.HP pavilion 15-E016Tx
2.HP pavilion 15-n012tx

which one would be better for games BF4,splinter cell Conviction and Fifa 14.
Please Help

Yes the 740m is listed as better performing than the 8670m. Plus I would imagine that it would "Optimus" technology (which means nVidia controls which GPU (iGPU or dGPU) to use for that task at hand). So this means that you would have optimal battery life for most tasks.

The processor might not matter too much for most things, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. Yes there will probably be situations where the older CPU might perform better, but the i5 4200u is pretty close in performance to the i5 3230m.

To me the 4200u comsumes less power and performs pretty close to the 3230m.

I'd probably say #1 has the better dGPU, so that would probably allow you better gaming.

Will the processor make a difference? the 1st one has a 3th gen i5 with 2.6 Ghz while the second one has 4th gen i5 with 1.6 Ghz
which one is better??
BTW Doesn't 740M provide better performance than 8670m
