I need to find a decent budget laptop (less than $1000) to be able to play BF4 while I am on the road for work most of the week. Anything that plays low-medium settings. Any suggestions?

That system is on back-order currently from NCIX. I would prefer to buy from either Newegg or Amazon if you see any systems on there.

The Asus N550JV-DB71 looks like the better option when its comes to speed/performance, but is 5.9 lbs. Those V7 are very nice looking, lighter, and touchscreen, but look to be slower. Having a hard time choosing now....ugh

The Acer is a GT 720M w/ i7 1.8ghz vs the Asus being a GT 750M w/ i7 2.4ghz. I assumed there would be a large difference there? Maybe not I guess?

The large difference is in the GPUs. Get the Asus.

GPU:
Anything below the GT750M would likely be problematic for playing BF4 in terms of a good experience. you'll still want to carefully tweak to maintain a sufficient frame rate. Either use Geforce Experience to autotune if a profile exists (40FPS is aimed at) or manually tune. I prefer to aim for 60FPS VSYNC'd but you may wish to do one of the following:
a) 30FPS VSYNC'd (Half VSYNC in NVidia Control Panel)
b) 60FPS VSYNC'd
c) 40FPS with VSYNC OFF (screen tearing exists but it's a compromise many can live with)

Monitor:
Avoid GLOSSY screens if possible and get an anti-glare coating. The screen reflections on glossy are horrible for gaming.

RESOLUTION:
Higher than 1366x768.

WEIGHT:
Any laptop with a half-decent GPU tends to have a minimum weight so you'll have to decide if playing BF4 is worth the weight. If not, perhaps get a lighter, less expensive laptop with an okay GPU or APU and play less demanding games (I know you asked about BF4 but I'm just being thorough).

START8:
I absolutely recommend Windows 8 64-bit but I also recommend the $5 program Start8 to avoid the new interface (can still link to it).

RAM:
At least 6GB.

How does the GT 750M compare to the AMD 8750M?

Just trying to determine if the Asus is worth the extra $150 over the Acer V5-552PG-X809, which I saw a video of it playing BF3 on ultra with no problem.

Is it crippled by a slower 1.8ghz i7 though?

I'm not a big fan of Acer.
Perhaps their quality and support has improved in the last year but I've seen lots of issues in the past. I've been pretty happy with Asus, HP and Lenovo.
