The School lists out required specifications as such:

  • General Requirements for LAPTOPS
    3.0Ghz Processor (min)
4GB Memory (8GB or Higher Recommended)
    100 GB Hard Drive
    Windows 7
512MB (min) or Higher Video Card Recommended*
Monitor and or docking station is optional but useful to have at your studio desk.
    Wireless

The goal is under $1500, Thank you for any information you can share.

(I should mention that this is for using programs such as
Adobe Photoshop
Autocad
Essentially 3D rendering/modeling programs)

3.0Ghz minimum? Wow, your school is asking for an extremely high-end processor! For under $1,500, that might be hard to find. There are few laptops out there that have a 3.0Ghz processor.

I've configured a laptop for you with a 2.9Ghz processor and it easily meets your school's other requirements (http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Battalion-101-W670SJQ-Gaming-Laptop/W/225386). This costs $1,439, shipping is free.

The 3.1Ghz option would've cost $2,083, which seems a little extreme.

Yeah, I know, It's dumb and I'm pretty sure that whoever put in 3.0 doesn't understand how CPU's work.

I would chime in from experience you may want to look for an matte IPS monitor aswell. They tend to represent colours better and reduce glare.
