Need help fixing an Acer laptop?

Okay, so I found an old Acer 5738z laptop laying around, and i tried turning it on.
The laptop turns on for 2 seconds, then turns off, and then turns on and stays on, but the screen shows no sign of life.

I tried switching the Ram sticks around in the slots, but that didn't seem to work.
Any suggestions to where I should start in order to see if it's fixable?

LCD video/data cable
LCD screen
CPU

Those are just my suspicions. Are you able to connect a projector (external screen) to the laptop?

I plugged in an external CTR monitor, but it doesn't seem to find a signal.
I highly doubt the laptop's LCD is the problem, given it was replaced right before the laptop died, but I won't single it out.

I decided to open up the laptop to check if anything was wrong inside, like disconnected cables or something, but everything seems fine, so I'm assuming one of the hardware pieces is dead, most likely the CPU.

If no external display either, then yeah, your CPU (or whatever the laptop's primary display adapter is) probably kicked the bucket.

I don't really care about it too much, guess it would've been useful if it actually worked, but it's not worth getting it checked out, especially knowing I'm gonna end up getting the same response.
