Need help picking a laptop.

So, I know a fair bit about desktop PCs and a friend of mine figured he would ask me to help pick a laptop for him to use at university.

He doesn't need to run any fancy games as he is not interested in gaming on a laptop but it needs to be fast, able to be carried around school and stuff.
He was fairly odd about his demands, he just said that he didn't want to play any games on it and that he needed to run several apps (not too demanding, trust me) properly for school projects, then he send me a link of a laptop which was priced at 499,- EU, which would be the price range.
I already found a better one for that price but I was wondering if any laptop gurus could help me out by possibly giving some suggestions.

Considering the low price, the laptop you have mentioned should do. You could also look into tablets with a bluetooth keyboard if you want to save a bit assuming he doesn't mind a small screen.
