Need help with using my dslr as a webcam

So, I have a Nikon D5300 and I want to use it with my Elgato HD60 capture card but I run into a problem when trying to use it with apps like skype. skype does not recognize the Elgato as a webcam and actually, neither does my computer(windows). is there some way for windows to recognize my Elgato as a webcam?

Hi,

I suggest you to use software like SparkoCam which can help you this situation. Nikon D5300 can be used as a webcam using this software. Since you have also informed that it is not getting detected, I suggest you to also check in device manager, whether it is listed. If there is any yellow exclamation mark, uninstall that particular driver and restart your PC. It will automatic update the driver.

Sparkocam I heard is not free.

it is detected but its under "audio video" not "imaging devices" in device manager and drivers are up to date

I am more or less trying to figure out how to make it an imaging device as far as the computer is concerned.
