Need input, plan to purchase laptop from costco

I am looking to purchase a laptop for my son in school. Lenovo Ideapad 320 15 Touchscreen Laptop - Intel Core i3 from costco. any thoughts on this one?

Intended use is internet usage for college classes, microsoft word for papers, mainly an everyday computer for him to use. this is priced at 400$

I'll bump this because Im also looking for a school PC. Ideally a good Mobo and CPU and leave RAM and SSD for later upgrade. I'm stuck between Costco and the extra warranty or Dell with their payment plan.

... then it's a decent enough machine. The 7th gen i3 CPU and HD 620 IGP should handle standard productivity and web-surfing without problems. And 6GBs of RAM will allow for decent multi-tasking. However, if you really want 'bang for your buck', then this HP offers 12GBs of RAM with the same CPU/IGP combo:

To be perfectly honest, I don't think it's going to make that much of a difference to your son's daily schedule, but it's the same price.
