Need new speakers

Hello,
I bought the Denon 4310ci AVR (7.1) and would like some speaker recommendations. My roommate doesn't like to see large speakers so we have usually gone with the Bose small speakers. Thoughts?

Bose is pretty unpopular with the audio crowd. Bose certainly doesn't do itself any favors with cheap plastic enclosures and $2 untreated paper drivers.
