Need suggestions for new laptop.

Need advice on buying a new Laptop.It should be able to handle everything (all basics and then some bigger programs) and should be able to handle some light gaming as well. I've had experiences with Acers and they are pretty low cost but I don't trust their quality. I had and Acer and it crashed after 1 and a half years of light usage and had so many issues and bugs.I heard Lenovo puts top quality parts and has a good build (a lot effort in to the hardware). My budget is $1400 maximum. Would prefer to spend less than $1000. It also needs a minimum of 4gb ram. If possible very light gaming like bf3 on lowest settings. I would like it to be 14'' or less and rather slick and light but would rather have a quality laptop for the same price. I don't need: a touch screen or tent or tablet mode or a super good looking screen or loud speakers, extra ports, tonnes of hard drive, etc. I rather just a laptop that will always work when I need it. So people with experiences with different laptop brands suggest please. Thank you!

Hi,
I would recomend the computer I use, the Asus F550CC Notebook.
It includes Intel Inside i5, and has 4 GB RAM, it cost me about $800-$900 AUD Dollars.
So, I would recomend that one.

BF3 at the lowest settings is kinda borderline on all but the latest Intel HD video (Broadwell with HD5x00).

If you want something cheap with a discrete card, try going to the above link and click on the nvidia 940m, 930m, 840m, and 830m; and AMD R7. Scroll down to the bottom of the new page and it'll list laptops which use that GPU. (The site is based in Germany, so some of the models they review aren't available in the U.S.)

I'd suggest the Thinkpad Yoga 14 - it's on closeout at Best Buy for $999. Yeah it has a touch screen, tent and tablet mode, super good looking screen, and loud speakers that you don't care about. But it's a great quality laptop that ticks off all your other requirements. 14", 4.2 lbs, 0.8" thick, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD + 16 GB cache SSD, a nvidia 840m which will let you run BF3 in med or high mode (and the fan will be barely audible while you're playing). I had it for a month before selling it to a friend (I wanted a better GPU) and would highly recommend it. It's built like a brick (though some would argue it looks like one too) - you could use it to pound nails if you wanted. The only catch is that there's a design flaw with the internal battery disconnect switch - it sometimes triggers if you pick up the laptop from the right side causing it to immediately lose power. Lenovo will fix it under warranty, but that means you'll be without the laptop for a few days to a week. It's a Thinkpad so they should pay for shipping both ways.

You could look into xotic pc as they have a good range of laptop. Very few 14 inch laptop have dgpu's in them due to their size and the amount of heat they produce.

You could go for the Lenovo Y50 with a 15.6" screen. It is currently sold with a 4th generation Intel i7 processor and a 256 GB SSD drive. The laptop is relatively light and slick and extremely fast. It spares you heavy equipment. The Lenovo Y50 doesn’t have a DVD- or BluRay-Drive and it doesn’t have a HDD. This laptop is thin and light taking into account its power. The user ratings are good for the Y 50. The user ratings for the Y70 with touch screen are even a bit better but its screen is probably too big for you with 17.3". Here in the UK both models cost currently about GBP 1100.
