Actually the Asus eeePC uses a Xandros-based distribution with a custom "simple" interface, Nokia already develops and uses Maemo on top of their Debian Linux-based OS, and Ubuntu is already working on an MID-specific flavor. Off the top of my head, I don't know of any netbook or MID that uses any of the standard *buntu OSes by default, though I know people have installed one afterwards.
Vista has relatively high demands on hardware as it is, and Window Blinds just adds more on top of that. I'm not sure that adding a ready-boost device to a "netbook" is really going to make much difference if you load it up like so. What new features does it offer compared the older but lighter XP that make it more useful in a netbook?

You have got to be kidding. You have Apple on the brain. Netbooks don't need an Apple facade to be successful, they just need to provide the features and functionality that people need. Some of them do, like the EEE PC. You completely give yourself away when you said that the HP is the best offering so far, that unit may be the prettiest but it has abysmal performance. You are obviously concerned with form over function, like the rest of the hipster, Apple-loving crowd. You should really be posting for some trendy mag like "Style" instead of a real technology one.

Lame, just lame. Just like KarnDog said, Apple is not a god. UMPC or NetBooks don't need anything from Apple(These peeps would go with a law suit anyways). Their price range, and performance could already answer to most people's call. Does Apple have that? NO! All there product are produced with fragile materials(The expensive equipments are very fragile so the repair cost will be high). Trust me, my friend works for Apple's customer service, and this is just nonsense.

Service with iTunes? iTunes is more brainless to work with in the first place. Trying to expand there name using iTunes will not make this brand universal. Think of why so many companies decide to let there MP3 devices be detected as a Memory Drive and not through a program! It's called SIMPLICITY!

Oh...and uh....keep yourself updated with the NetBooks. There's WAYYYY more than HP. Asus, Dell, Lenovo, MSI all have entered the NetBook market, so no...HP is definitely not the best NetBook out there
