Hello guys,

I bought a 'custom' laptop using CyberpowerPC's for $2400 after discounts (specs listed below) The laptop hasn't arrived and I have until the June 2nd to return it if it is shipped.

The 1070 and 1080 were announced just now and come out at the end of this month. They are advertising the 1080's performance "up to double of a 980 and 980Ti, less power consumption, faster than SLI 980s, better cooling, and better pricing than a current Ti! Meanwhile a 1070 seems to have about the same specs of a 980 at 200 dollars less! The real specs are listed below.

Should I call in and cancel or stay with this build? I am leaning towards doing so but want your opinion on this. I can definitely wait for the card to come out. I'm sure Cyberpower and other companies will be offering this card for laptops. I'm just wondering if it's worth being a d*** over. Maybe I am too harsh on myself.

The earliest that we could even consider mobile versions is january-march of 2017. I wouldnt wait as mobile gpus never increase performance by more than 5-10% and frankly the 1070 and 1080 wont be in laptops because it doesnt make sense. I think that Volta will be the next chipset to make mobile gpus and that nvidia may only release low end laptop gpus and just wait out the time till volta in mid 2017.

I think you should stick with the 980. I'm not sure when/if the 1080 will be available for laptops. I would assume so, but they will be far more expensive. Laptop GTX 980's are very good mobile graphics chipsets and will surely provide a good experience.

They have not yet announced when the 1070/1080 will be available in laptop form, you could be waiting a very long time. Not only that the increase in performance may be different due to the low laptop power.

Do you think laptop manufacturers would markup the new card's price that much considering the cards are about the same size and cost around the same(prices listed above are what manufacturers should be selling them at)? That's the only thing messing with me right now. How's Nvidia offering a better card than the Titan X (the 1080) at almost the same price of a 980, and a similar card to the 980 (1070) at 200 dollars less! Hahaha.

I've read reviews that the laptop version would be out within a month. Thanks for the feedback!
