Greetings forum users!

I have just recently gotten a great job in tech support and am soon going to get my tax returns and so I'm in the market for a great gaming laptop now that I can afford it. I am willing to go as high as $1000. I want around a 17.3 inch screen, and at least 8gb of ram, and some good dedicated graphics card.

I'm trying to find the best deal out there online at the moment. I do not need a touchscreen, as I find that pointless and an increased cost. Please help me pick out my new gaming laptop. I came here because this is where the professionals roam, and I'm sure a lot of smart people out there have some really good ideas. Oh, and backlighting is a huge plus!

So many choices, thanks for helping me choose!

I used to have a 12" Powerbook G4 a long time ago as my primary laptop, it was a pretty decent laptop that I could take anywhere but after a while the small screen size got really old. It's not just movie watching but playing games and typing on a screen that small can really strain the eyes after a while. After several laptops of various screen sizes I've found that 15.6" is the perfect medium for a laptop screen - it's not too big, not too small and you can fit it on most airline tray tables.
