Hi, I'm a student preparing for college next year and I've decided to buy a laptop to do just general schoolwork (word, excel, powerpoint) and just general internet browsing (tom's hardware!).
Anyways, I'm trying to get the most cheap, efficent and portable laptop possible. I've heard alot about the asus ee pc, is it as good as I've heard? Also, if I were to spring for a system with more gaming options, which one would you suggest (although I'll probably just build my own desktop for that)?

Hello and welcome to the forums mate :)

What is your budget?

Eee PC is mainly for very light works and isn't powerful compared to other notebooks its main usage is for someone who wants to learn and has very light works to do

For that price range a Dell may be worth looking at, I was with a budget of a little over yours, but l was looking at an XPS.

Yes, the Dell Vostro ave a decent bang for the buck.

If you're wary of Dell, the HP 6700 series (t for Intel, z for AMD) is an alternative. Gateway M serires is at the upper end of your budget, but doesn't anhiliate it.

I'm no fan of Acer. I'm less of a fan of Sony.
