New LG Magic Remote

Hello Friends: I have a LG TV that had a LG Magic Remote that just stopped working. After changing the batteries and it STILL did not work. I ordered a new remote (Magic). That one does not work either. I started to program it by pushing the home & back button at the same time. I did get a blinking light on the remote but it did not allow me to further. Any ideas? I bought the TV from someone so I did not need to register it. Everything on the TV seems to work fine if you are not using the remote.

Unplug TV from wall for 1 hour see what happens.
