New phone battery seems to be dead. But phone still acts like it wants to work without battery in device

Suspect like! Never had a device do this. Is it me or another body did this to me & my family!

I have never heard of a phone trying to work when it has no battery in it. If that is the case, I would contact the manufacturer about it.
