Solved! New windows siervice pack for hp

Hello,
is installing the windows service pack 2 safe for my pc and does it have all the same features that my pc already has?

I'm assuming vista sp2 (since xp is sp3 and 7 is sp1). In any case service packs are nothing but a bundle of updates and most windows updates are security or compatibility updates so should be 100% safe to do on any computer.
