Sorry if these are commonplace all, but I'm hoping you all will bear with me
I'd like to do a couple of things
1). I'd like it to record every Columbo episode it comes across (because
they come on multiple channels, irregularly in some cases).
I've set up a Wishlist with "Columbo" as the keyword (since not all of them
necessarily have Columbo in the title IIRC). So far so good, it seems to be
catching them and recording them.
Now, in the recording options, what do I put to avoid getting too many
duplicates? Since this is not a new show, "First Run" doesn't make sense to
me - but is it first run for that episode, that show, that channel, etc.???
I understand if I watch one, or delete it, it won't record it again for 28
days. But what if it already recorded "Prescription Murder" on Hallmark, and
then it comes on Bio a couple of days later?
2). I'd like it to record a couple of episodes of, say, The Rockford Files,
which comes on a couple times a day. I don't really care which episodes I
get, I'd lust like to have a couple of them in case there's "nothing else
on" (or I want something that's an hour with commercials that I can watch in
45 minutes, rather than a 1.5 hour movie). Can I set it to record 2, and
then it will keep those until I delete one/both, and then it will just
record the next available ones that come up?
I tried to set up a SP for this, but it shows all of the episodes in the
upcoming list, and they all say they'll be recorded, even though keep at
most is set to 2, and I selected "until I delete".
3). New shows like Battlestar Galactica have a weekly new episode, which
gets shown again a couple of times during the week. I only want one (but I
want to record a couple in case I can't watch one until a week or two
later - unlikely, but I have a busy schedule), and it I got it set for 5
epi, first run and repeats (but I don't want any old shows). But, if I don't
watch or delete the one recorded on Friday at 10 till a couple of days
later, it's going to record the same episode if they're replayed because of
the 28 day thing (which is not in effect because I haven't watched or
deleted it) right? What if I set it to First Run only?
I think part of my problem is as I mentioned above, what exactly First Run,
and Repeat means to TiVo. I don't consider Gilligan's Island to be "first
run" - they're all repeats to me. But I also consider all of the replays of
BSG during the week to be "repeats". Does TiVo?
Thanks for any assistance,
Steve
