[citation][nom]toallthehaters[/nom]thanks Dameon. Let me ask you this, 1. is it that bad you have a quality control? I can see the benefit and negative aspect of this, since I have a problem with authority myself.2. Ok, I hate flash and wish we actually had an alternative that was more main stream. But I see your point, you want the option.3. Does that mean you want more than one version of the hardware?[/citation]

1. quality control is nice, limiting apps based on content is not. someone already mentioned having choice in keyboard, music player, basically anything on the phone can be customized to your liking.

2. I still don't see what people "hate" about flash however there are certain sites I use that are flash, I can't help that and I can't use those sites on iphone which is stupid.

3. What that means is options, I want to have the choice of a qwerty keyboard or screen size or hdmi out, I want to have more than just 1 phone option, I may only use 1 but I get to pick which one that is.

The main point is when you allow multiple hardware configurations mixed with the ability to customize the OS and no limits on apps the possabilities are endless, with the iphone you get what you get and thats all.

[citation][nom]jomofro39[/nom]Isn't that the exact point of the whole Android vs. iPhone battle? Choice versus....iPhone? ~~ Very similar, IMO, to the PC vs. Mac debate~[/citation]

Oh I agree of course. I'm making an observation. Gotta remember, Apple was selling the original iPhones for $800 *WITH* a contract only with at&t - ouch. But even back then, other smart phones were $400~600 with contracts for RIMs, Windows Phone, etc. My SONYs from years ago were $100~250.

With Win7 entering the market, it will create more competition, better performance and somewhat lower pricing.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S series phone. My choice. :)
Only faults - battery gets used up quickly, partily because of the LAME GPS which causes problems and the tiny-ass power/wake up button.

[citation][nom]kmguy[/nom]Here's the way I see it. It's a Fords/Chevys argument that no one is going to win. I like the "Apple experience" and all of the techno-speak about android and "Open source" and the like means nothing to me (And millions like me)people need to realize that not everyone is an uber-geek who lives for that stuff. If you are then more power to you but don't try to convince me that one is better than the other. They both have their place in the universe. Apple and Verizon need to pull their heads out and start delivering iPhones to the millions like me who will never buy an android phone. I'll just keep walking around with my iPod Touch in one pocket and my DumbPhone in the other.[/citation]

I agree with your comparison to the Ford/Chevy argument, but Android is not just for "uber-geeks." Both my mother and wife, who are arguably the least tech savvy people I know, have Android phones, while my father, who is a bit more tech oriented, has an iPhone.

In the end it's a personal preference.

You're right that while there are certainly no absolutes on this issue I do feel that if one were to troll the various news blogs and such they would find that the majority of the Pro-Android sect is much more tech-savvy and in many cases I would think of them as Hi-tech aficionado's who don't care for the limitations that Apple frequently imposes. I'm 49 and while I'm not a superstar at tech stuff I'm not completely lost either. My wife is a huge PC fan and thinks I'm crazy for being an Apple guy. The fact that she's an accountant and I'm an avid photographer explains much though.
