Yes, it's obvious that RAM is cheap and that is why MS and Sony should have at least 8GB as they would be enhancing their systems at little cost. With the level of detail in future games, such as complex textures and high poly counts, you need a lot of RAM to cut down on load times in open world games such as Fallout 3. With higher RAM amounts, a developer can get rid of draw distance problems and even incorporate things such as swinging doors as you can load inside areas beforehand. It always opens up more possibilites, and keeps problems like freezup in games such as Skyrim at bay.
