Solved! no audio when pluging HD to TV

Hi, i know this might not be for this site but people here helped me so much i told myself id ask anyways.
So ive downloaded some series for my portable hard drive so that i could watch them on the TV in my office on my night shifts. Problem is that some of them just says there a problem with the audio function, even tho that on my PC when i try to watch em it works fine. i tried changing the end of the name to different types like mkv and avi and mp4 and some just workand some dont so nayone have any idea how to fix this?

Need a player with the necessary codecs for some multimedia types, simply naming the extension wont work.

I do on my pc, but when i plug the HD to the tv i cant choose a program it just starts it (its not a smart tv) and for some files i have sound and some i dont thats the problem

take a look in tv manuals to see which audio codecs are supporrted and reencode those videos (reencoding only audio is quite fast)

Its not my tv and theres no model on it that i see.. also can i check what code the files that work are and change the others to them?

sure u can, VLC media player can show u used video/audio codecs
