No device to boot from

Guys I installed windows 8.1 on my lenovo thinkpad t400 which was running fine on first boot but when I restart it it said no device to boot from I thought to reinstall windows but it won't show any drive to install windows please help

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button then try booting it up again.
- If it will still not boot up, load it into BIOS and see if the HDD is listed or not.
- If the HDD is not listed, shutdown the laptop and check if the HDD is seated properly.
- Remove it for a second then put it back in making sure it's seated properly.
- If the HDD is listed normally in BIOS, press F9 to set it to default then press F10 to save and exit.
