No power with power cord or battery

Hello, I have an Acer Extensa 4420, and I cant get any power with the power cord or battery. Is it possible that the battery is completely dead and that's the problem?

The power cord will bypass the battery. You can remove the battery from a functioning laptop and still run it via the AC adapter.

Yes, I see a light on the charger. I have to face that fact that my computer is done.
